Unrepentant, a 15 minute short film from Yarnmaker, will make its Canadian premiere at the Vancouver DSLRFest on Sunday 14th November 2010, in the 3pm block.
DSLRFest promises to be a unique take on the traditional film festival approach, only featuring films produced with emerging DSLR camera technology that allows filmmakers to achieve cine-style images at a fraction of the cost. The festival will also represent the first time Unrepentant has screened at its native 1080P resolution.
Unrepentant was amongst the first short films to be produced with a DSLR camera that also utilised traditional on-set production methodology, treating the camera as a crew would normally treat a film camera. The experience lead to Yarnmaker publishing the widely read whitepaper, Can you shoot a Feature Film on a Canon EOS 5D Mark II dSLR?
The film raises the ethical question of sex offenders who have served their incarceration time, but psychologically are highly likely to re-offend. It is a difficult subject with no easy answers.
